Covid 19 has been a a crisis for this community. In response Community action response was set up in March 2020. This has been a partnership with local organisations and people including the Town Council and County Councillor Mike Pringle.

Community Action Response (CAR) Purpose.

CAR

CAR has been operating since 16/3/20 serving the most vulnerable people in the Nottinghamshire area (mainly Ollerton,  Boughton, Warsop) emergency food parcels. We also offer telephone support and work along side other agencies to support with mental, emotional and physical health.

CAR also supports families over half term, helping to eliminate hoilday hunger. Due to Covid 19 some families are now eligible for free school meals but are not registered or are financially struggling. CAR has supported these families ensuring the hampers contains healthy balanced meals.

CAR is a consortium of local organizations and cooperates with Councils, schools, Family Centres, Care Homes, local businesses etc under the governance of the Lifespring Church Centre and is chaired by Councillor Mike Pringle and Pastor Mike Philips. With 70 volunteers CAR has supplied over 1400 food parcels each one providing all the meals for a week for individuals up to large families, so over 80,000 meals have been provided by early November.

What CAR needs.

Each family food parcel costs us approximately £45.00 and provides enough food for all the meals for the family for one week.

We would greatly appreciate a donation of non perishable food or if you can financially support any contribute.

Thank you again for you for your time and consideration in this most challenging times.

As a New Year is about to start, we look back at the year we have had. A year no-one could have predicted. As a Church Centre (working with the community) our volunteers have -

Distributed over 100,000 meals to those in need and sent out Christmas Hampers as well.

Made countless social telephone calls so people don't feel alone.

Sent mental health packs out to those struggling.

Organised children packs to help keep children entertained in lockdown.

Organised packs for those fleeing domestic violence.

Organised a sensory bus for children with ADHD and autism.

Worked with #missionchristmas to ensure every child has a present under the tree.

Supported our local community groups and signposted people to the right place for further support.

All of this would not be possible  without the agencies that work along side us and the fabulous volunteers that give their time to support others and the local community that donated food and toys!  What an amazing community we have.

Thank you from all of us at Lifespring and may COVID-19 end and 2021 be a better and a blessed year for all.

We are all together even when apart ❤
